“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw–Each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned up, He will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.”
1 Corinthians 3:11-15
The notes in my bible read: work that Christians do in Christlike faith and obedience will survive and be rewarded; work done in the power of the “flesh” will not…

Following through on this IDP vision is something I probably would not have said yes to prior to our Kenya trip. For Kenya, the Lord provided and I had to trust Him to bring in the funds. However, in the corner of my mind, I had the safety net of knowing that I could back out if I wanted and do something else. Now, I am officially entering “real life” 🙂 and am placing my complete trust in God. He has to show up and provide for this apprenticeship. This dream is His, and it is way bigger than I, and we, can comprehend. I have faith that He will provide, because He has told me He will.
One of my leaders in Kenya said that God prepares us today for our future. Looking back on my life and most recently this Kenya trip, God definitely has shown the truth of this statement. Even before Kenya, the Lord was preparing me to walk by His Spirit and to embrace a life of simplicity, trusting Him for Daily Bread. His plans are so far beyond our comprehension.
I have rejected all thoughts and proddings to look for a teaching position, in favor of answering the Lord’s call. Now I’m relying solely on the Lord to provide. I have no gaurantees, no safety net, just the Lord’s provision. I serve a faithful and loving God who delights in giving good gifts to His children. So, as His child, I wait and pray in expectation of His provision. And He has already been providing! Subbing jobs, nannying this summer… I’m not accustomed to relying on Him like this, but this is His way. It’s part of “taking up my cross daily and following Him, losing my life in order to save it.” I’m excited and know that God is only getting started 🙂
“No eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for Him.”
