KELLI IN A NUTSHELL: So where should I start??? Hey

everybody I'm Kelli (you probably already knew that when you chose

to check out my blog lol). I've never done this before so just bear with

me as we embark on this journey together!

So pretty much I'm 22 years old. I'll be 23 this Sunday, August

7th (whoo whoo I'm excited!!!). Not for any particular reason just

cause I've been saying I'm 22 for almost a whole year now and it's

kinda getting old. lol

I graduated last may from USC. No not the one in California but the

University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. I'm from the big city of

Blythewood, SC which is a bustling metropolis complete with all of 3

traffic lights.

So I'm a car-saleswoman. Not the sleazy 'lie to your face and stab

you in the back' kind of car-saleswoman. But a 'nice help you get into

a vehicle that fits your budget and your needs kind of car-

saleswoman.' It's a good job just not one that I can see myself doing

for the rest of my life.

In case nyone wanted to know I got my degree in Public Relations

although its not very relevant seeing as I don't really plan on getting a

job in my field. I just kind of picked it. No long drawn out 'it's what I've

always wanted to do with my life' kind of story; I just picked it.

The truth is I've never really known what I've wanted to do with my life

but I figured if I turn it over to God and go with His plan for my life I

can't go wrong.

IT ALL STARTED WITH A SNICKERS: So pretty much I grew

up in the church. Sunday school, VBS (for those of you who didn't that

stands for Vacation Bible School lol) and of course Sunday morning

service. That's all great but the only problem is….I grew up in the

church, not in Christ.

I didn't develop a personal relationship with Christ until my junior year

in college. It seems like just yesterday. I was walking towards the

elevator in my dorm when I spotted them. A table full of giant snickers

candy bars. (Most people don't know this about me because I'm not a

big candy eater but I LOVE SNICKERS!) I had to have one! One of

the girls standing behind the table was wearing a Campus Crusade

for Christ t-shirt and she promised me a snickers just for filling out a

small slip of paper.

The paper said something about do you wanna know more about

Christ then asked for my name and phone number. I filled it out

quickly and headed upstairs snicker bar in hand. It was about 2 days

later when I got a call from one of the Campus Crusaders asking to

meet with me in the lobby of my building so reluctantly I went down.

No sooner than I had gotten there did she start to ask me questions

about my relationship with the Lord. Yeah I had been in church all my

life but by this time I had stopped going regulary, hadn't ever really

studied my bible, had been in more than a couple unhealthy

relationships and was living in complete rebellion against God,

unknowingly.

She put me in contact with the Impact movement, another campus

ministry and that's when I got plugged into a real community of

believers. I had never seen so many young people so on fire for the

Lord. I started going to a women's bible study and really learned how

to study God's Word for the first time in my life. As I studied it I saw

Him more clearly and got to know my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The books I read and the love stories I heard didn't even come close

to God's love letter to us. Christ pursues us relentlessly despite how

sinful and undeserving we are of His love, kindness, grace and mercy.

God sooooo loves us that He sent His Son Jesus to die for us so that

whoever turns away from his sin and trust and believes in Jesus

Christ alone will not perish but will have eternal life with Him in heaven.

THE MISSION: MAKING A DIFFERENCE THAT LAST

ETERNALLY

One year ago as I graduated college I had high expectations for

myself. Getting a good job, buying a nice house and saving money for

the future. As I read my bible more and more I realized that Jesus

didn't spend his life focused on acquiring assets and hoarding his

money for his own personal gain but his entire life was spent on

mission to save souls. With that as my example I realized that there is

so much more to life than living the "American dream." One day all of

our earthly possessions will cease to exist but the truth is our souls

will never die. We will all spend eternity somewhere. This life is

infinitely shorter than eternity so I figure my life would be best spent

focusing on what really matters. And what matters to God matters to

me.

America has long since been considered a "nation under God." We

have churches on every street corner and the south is even

considered the "bible belt." Sometimes we don't realize that that's not

the case in other countries. Many of the people in the countries we'll

be visiting have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are no

bible believing churches where they live nor televangelists. "How, then

can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they

believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they

hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach

unless they are sent?" –Romans 10:14-15
