I was reading the Bible the day after what can most definitely go down as the worst day of the race so far. And for 3 days in a row the worst day kept being the next day. It was a hard week.

I was reading through Colossians because it was what I opened to. When I got to Colossains 2 I contemplated skipping it. I’ve has Colossains 2 memorized since I went to Lifeway Community Church in Indiana and attended Free Style’s (youth group) summer series called Reality Check. I was going into 7th grade and we “won” a prize if we memorized Colossians 2-3 by the end of the summer. I was one of the few prize winners!

But, I didn’t skip it and when I got to verse 6 I wanted to roll my eyes, but I read it anyway and kept going. And then I paused and went “Wait! What did that say again?” I didn’t have to reread it to know “Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him …” Col. 2:6.

What!? Do you see it? That verse is telling us how to live in Christ. Just as we received Christ Jesus as Lord; that’s how. Get it now!?

I think my mind was blown. We received Jesus “by Grace through faith” (Ephesians 2:8) and that is how we live out our life in Christ. We don’t get through a single day without the dose of Grace we need for that day, and each day it’s different. We live out our walk with Christ through Him and the grace He gives us. We put our faith in Him to get us through the next moment and day. It is through His Grace.

We don’t get saved and walk out our faith by picking ourselves up by our bootstraps. We do it “by Grace through faith” (Eph. 2:8) “just as we received Christ Jesus as Lord” (Col. 2:6). It isn’t by my own accord. It is Jesus living His life in me and through me that we get through life on this earth and live out our call. You see “[we] live, but not [us] but Christ in us.” (Gal. 2:20). And we live by the Grace in us and given to us through Jesus.

God was telling me there was enough grace for me to get through what I was walking through. There is enough grace to get through what I am still walking through, and there is enough Grace to get through what YOU are walking through.

Grace isn’t something that is just meant for salvation or for heaven. The radical grace that is Jesus is meant for here and now, every. single. day.
