For those of you who haven’t heard, Beyonce Knowles the musician/performer/artist has a church. Though Beyonce has not supported this church nor stated that she is or is not a goddess, she still has a following.
Her church is located in Atlanta, GA and is quickly growing. In recent news, people have been bashing this new church for worshiping a human being.
To respond to this, the church’s founder and pastor, Pauline John Andrews recently stated, “We are very disappointed in the failure of the public to recognize the existence of a divine Deity walking among them. Deities often walk the earth in their flesh form. Beyonce will transcend back to the spirit once her work here on Mother Earth has been completed.”
He continued to say that “as our congregation continues to swell, we ask that you consider what is more real; an invisible spirit on high, or a walking, talking, breathing Goddess who shows you her true form daily? Beyoncé’s spirit is entrancing. We know that she was sent to this place to spread love, peace, and joy. While we do not believe Beyoncé to be the Creator, we recognize that she still sits among the throne of Gods… As Beyoncé spreads her gospel through song and dance, her message provides uplifting, loving, and many times real-life happenings. “
So here’s the thing:
I 100% do NOT believe in anyway shape or form that Beyonce is a goddess. But I find it so interesting that the reason I find it so easy to believe in my Lord and Savior are the same reasons people are now worshiping Beyonce.
For starters – Jesus is a walking, talking, breathing God who showed himself to us in human form daily for more than 30 years. Jesus came to earth to build a relationship with us (humans) and he came down to earth to save us from our sins. Jesus was a walking, talking, breathing God who revealed himself to us.
Secondly – Jesus came down and spread love, peace, and joy. Jesus came to earth and loved people. He was the first to say that we should love our enemies and we should treat others the way we want to be treated. Jesus discouraged people from fighting amongst one another; instead, he encourages people to forgive one another and live in peace along side people. And through knowing Him, a joy that is given to all who believe in Him.
And Lastly – The message of Jesus is uplifting, loving, and relates to real-life. Jesus’ message is about bringing people love, peace, joy, and salvation through Him. He is about spreading love to everyone we come in contact with. He provides wisdom on how to handle real life situations; some of them he even experienced.
People are looking for a God to believe in. One that is present and visible. They are searching for someone to put their faith in who will bring love, peace, joy, and hope to their lives. The people who attend Beyonce’s church think they found a goddess Beyonce – a deity living among us.
I believe in a God who lived in human form. A God who can bring all of those things to us. I believe in a God who is present in my life even though I can’t see him. I believe in a God who knows me, loves me, and saved me from the consequences of the bad things I’ve done and will do. I believe in a God who is ever present in my life.
