So long sweet race

Land of the Germs!
Ok so the race is over, I am currently sitting in a plane on my way to Hannover, Germany to see my sister. I have been learning how God gives good gifts and this trip is a HUGE gift and it is so amazing and I never thought I would be able to do it…but God is so good and he loves giving good gifts to his children. I left my squad in Nairobi and it was super hard. I was crying while I was in line to get my boarding pass for my flight and when I got to the counter I wasn’t even able to talk. The lady probably thought I was nuts as people kept coming up to say goodbye and I am red in the face trying to hold back the floodgates.
The race literally felt like a second, but in the midst of it you were wondering when it was going to end because home seemed so far away. As I sat in my first plane away from the squad I had to pinch myself. Was that real life? Did that just happen? What a dream and fantasy world! It came to an end and it felt like I woke up from a deep sleep, but was still super exhausted from lack of sleep.
I loved my experience on the race though. Never again will I have a community of believers who I can truly call my brothers and sisters; never again will I go to that many countries in one year. This lifestyle I have come to like and I now have to figure out how to bring that into the life I had at home. To wake up every day and die to yourself to serve or love someone when you just want to stay to yourself and to make every opportunity with someone count.
So back to good gifts. On my travels as an independent woman…haven’t been able to say that in 11 months…I got to go anywhere I wanted ALONE, I met some really cool people and got offered to sit on some Saudi Arabian guy’s dress as he gave me my fill of chocolate from his country that his mom packed him, I got moved to an emergency exit seat for a flight (yay leg room), I got to sit between two social people on another long flight, I got to sit in first class for 30 min of a flight so I could exit first (legit first class with big tvs and doors that close you in), I got free coffee thanks to Munich’s airport, I got my own row on my last plane and cookies as I walked onboard, and I finally got to see my sister and spin her around like in the movies!

The gifts have not stopped coming!
