WALDO has made it to NEPAL!!!!

I’m very excited to be in this country and to be surrounded by such beautiful mountains and colors. The Himalaya’s are gorgeous and breathe taking. When we were flying into Katmandu we were able to see mountains out the window and I’m not going to lie I got a little choked up. God creates such beautiful things and yet his favorite creation is you and me. You should have been on the plane with us when our squad was flying over the mountains we all were so excited and going from window to window trying to get the best view, cameras were being passed across aisles to have the best pictures taken. It was quite an exciting moment for us and yet God gets excited to have us blessed by these things and other small things just because he loves us.

Once arriving in Katmandu we went through customs and got visas for Nepal. As soon as I walked out of the doors to the airport I realized we were not in Eastern Europe anymore. It was so loud outside and people are everywhere. Cops our blowing whistles all the time and horns are being honked more than I have heard in my lifetime. Our contact met us and took 5 teams to his bus to bring us to our home for the next couple of days. After being in 5 different countries within 72hrs I was ready for bed. However I couldn’t help get over the feeling of being displaced and overwhelmed.

The next morning my team had decided to go into town to the market. I was very unsure about this because of the experience I had at the airport. However as I left my room and went onto the balcony that’s on our floor I saw a Dr.Pepper can just sitting there. If you know me at all you know I have a small addiction to Dr.Pepper and I haven’t had it since leaving on the race. I was very excited and shared my excitement with my teammates who know and have heard how much I wanted a Dr. Pepper. It’s the little things God does to romance us that sometimes make the biggest difference in that moment. Seeing this made my day that much better and I was ready to be overwhelmed by the crowds and noises if it meant finding Dr. Pepper.

My team headed into town to the market which was quite the experience. We were smashed tight into buses and cabs to go an hour into the city. But that didn’t matter because good things were at the end of the tunnel. When we arrived into the city it was very very loud, colorful and busy. It was rather overwhelming. However God guided us right to the grocery store that had Dr. Pepper I was so excited to have my first dr.pepper in a while. Then we went to find food and as some of you know team WALDO is famous for finding great pizza in every city, or country we are in. It’s such a blessing to be able to eat something that makes you feel like you’re at home.

In all the craziness that is this city we found an amazing pizza place with amazing bread. We were able to catch up and share stories with squad mates that we had been partnered with the first month and just enjoy each other’s company.

It’s in the small things that God blesses you, and romances you. He wants you to feel loved and special and if that means providing your favorite drink, familiar food, or good friends that’s what he will do. Since we have gone back into the city another day it feels like home. I know where to go to find the good deals, the pizza, and of course the Dr.Pepper, Oreo’s and peanut butter (which is like gold on the race). The city is not overwhelming anymore and it’s kind of nice to have the noises and all the colors everywhere. I have really fallen in love with Katmandu.
