As we wind through the roads on our way home from the safari, I can’t help but get lost in the beauty around us. The entire 7 hour ride there is just so much beauty, you can try and try to capture a picture, but it doesn’t even begin to do justice to how amazing it is. You turn a corner and you see more and more mountains. Each one different than the last. If you look down you see rivers flowing gracefully. Then a second later you see the water taking over the rocks in a fierce way. The whitecaps show their strength but still look graceful and peaceful. When I finally peel my eyes away from the water the trees on the mountains fascinate me. They are reaching up to the sky wanting a kiss from the sunlight. Their branches stretching out like they are holding hands with the tree next to it. So many colors cover the mountain. The red of the dirt, green from the trees, grey from the rocks. The rocks go from looking smooth and shiny to rough and jagged. Each mountain looks fierce and strong, but still so beautiful. As I am fixated on the beauty around me I hear a faint whisper, “I made all of this for you”.
How crazy is that? God created all of this for us. There is beauty in everything we touch; we just have to look for it. Sometimes it is easier to spot than others. Nature is so easy to spot God’s beautiful creation. I was reminded today that God put that much work into us also. If not even more work, and he calls us his beautiful creation. So why do I look at people sometimes and see only the horrible things? Why don’t I see what God sees? It is because I don’t use the eyes God has given me at times. I use my earthly eyes. I have to remind myself that even though I can’t see the beauty right away in someone; God sees it all the time in them. He constantly calls us beautiful. Today is the day I change my eyes. I will try to always see the beauty when I want to focus on the negative. God’s perspective is the best, so that is what I am choosing.
