“And the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning…
Then the people went to Moses and said “The people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the Lord commanded to be done.”
Then Moses gave an order and they sent this word throughout the camp: “No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary.” And so the people were restrained from bringing more, because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work.”
-From Exodus 36
Today I experienced this Bible Story first hand. As most of you know I’m leaving for a year to serve around the world with Adventures in Missions. I was tasked with fundraising $16277 to cover all my expenses through the ministry. This seemed pretty much impossible for me, and I trembled at the thought. I started fundraising 8 weeks ago. As my donations given to date are being processed I have only a few more dollars to go. And more is coming in daily. This is the hand of God, no doubt.
At this point, I have to ask my donors to stop giving. I laugh that I’m doing this. Four weeks ago I thought raising this much money was impossible, and now Im asking people to stop giving because there is more than enough. If there is overflow in my account, it will go into the Adventures in Missions general fund and it is non refundable. There are a few minor personal needs like vaccinations, and travel to training camp that your cash donations are being put towards.
A lot of you have heard me compare the last four years in my spiritual life to treading water, just trying to keep my head above the water. Going on the World Race feels like Im getting out of the pool all together, and walking on solid ground. Not that it will be easy, I’m sure it will have its struggles, but I am no longer struggling to figure out what God wants me to do. He has made it clear that this is it. His hand has pulled me out of the struggling.
I did not expect this overwhelming support from friends, family, anonymous donors and even strangers. In my last few weeks of treading water its felt like a hundred hands have reached out to pull me on solid ground and encourage me to move forward. Every donation I’ve received, big or small, has been a hand reaching out to help me. I am beyond humbled, and I’m so thankful.
What a huge answer to prayer. Clearly, this is the hand of God. He has been moving in you all. And you have been joyful and obedient givers. Thank you so much for your extravagant generosity. I can’t even tell you how much God has been teaching me through you all about His sovereignty, provision, and how the term “partnership” can come alive in us.
Now I am turning my partnership focus to raising prayer support, which is even more important than financial support. If you have any questions or want to stay updated on prayer requests please let me know and send me your email address. I’m working on building an email prayer team. If you’d like to be on it please email your contact info to [email protected]
I am already changed by the World Race and I haven’t even left yet!
Thank you doesn’t begin to express my gratitude. But thank you all so much for getting me to this place. It means so much to this girl, who took the hand to help pull her out of the pool, and is now taking her first few steps on solid ground, still dripping wet, in awe of our God.
