Today, I have met my first major fundraising goal of $5,000! I can hardly fathom that amount of money, so I decided to convert it into a few units I, as a college student, am more able to relate to.

$5,000 is the same as 884 Whataburger meals or 2,403 Sonic sweet teas or 714 movie tickets or 250 copies of Oscar Wilde’s complete works. Puts it in perspective, doesn’t it? However, I can promise y’all, I’d much rather be 1/3 of the way to fully funded for the World Race than have any of these other things.

Coming out of a week that has been difficult and discouraging for a myriad of reasons, checking my account and seeing the faithfulness not only of the Lord, but also of His people for obeying his call to give, has breathed a new life into me. It feels more real now; it feels like this is really something that’s going to be happening, like all my preparation is actually working towards goals. Just think, this time next year, I’ll be in Africa… Africa!

So to all of you who have supported me financially, THANK YOU!!!! I cannot express how humbled and blessed I am by all of your generous support. I’m seeing the beauty of the Body of Christ in ways I never have before. Everybody told me support raising would give me new perspectives, but I really had no idea what that meant until it started happening.

And to my fellow Racers who are trying to reach those goals, financial and otherwise, keep pressing into Him and be encouraged; He has called you and He will be faithful (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

I’d like to share just a small snippet of a poem I wrote while feeling discouraged a few months ago; I found it again this week and it comforted some of my discouragement. In it, the speaker is exhausted from walking through life, but The Lord faithfully answers her:

“Your feet are feet of endurance,
Made to walk the narrow path,
Hundreds of miles you’ve come,
Thousands yet to go…
They are mine and I love them.”

World Racer, remember who you belong to, remember who you serve, love on everyone you meet, and know that I’m always rooting for you!

The Lord is actually making this all happen, isn’t he? I’m in prayer for you all always!
