My sister, Jasmine, became a mother last November to my sweet nephew. His name is Kylin and he’s about the cutest little boy in the world. I love him so much! 🙂 This is them at the zoo a couple months ago.
The other day he was upset and throwing a bit of a temper tantrum in the living room. Kylin wanted his momma. So Jasmine walked in, swooped him up and started singing to him and dancing with him in her arms. Immediately his tears stopped and he was smiling and holding on to his momma. This was so sweet to me. Anyone who could’ve seen it would see how much she loves him. And to Kylin, there is no one like momma. No one can sooth him or comfort him the way she does. I don’t have any children, so I don’t have the first hand experience or feelings that come with being a parent. But, at times like these I catch a glimpse and my heart is warmed in seeing such a love.
When I was about two years old, my mom would say bible verses to me and have me repeat her so that I would memorize them. I’m pretty sure there’s an old home video somewhere of me quoting John 3:16. It is probably the only verse that I have never forgotten. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that who so ever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Now doesn’t that seem strange to you? If I had a child there is not a chance I would give my son or daughter up so they could die. Let’s think about this for a minute. Our God, Creator of the Universe, loves you and I so much that He gave up His only son to die. He did that so that we have a the opportunity, if we believe, at living eternally with Him and not being condemned to death in Hell. I can’t understand it. That’s a lot of love.
