There is something beautiful about silence. Silence is relaxing, when things are silent I have the ability to focus more, but more than anything, silence has taught me the power of my voice. My Voice…. Using my voice I have the ability to speak life into other people and using my voice I have the ability to tear others down. This month I have the absolute joy of working at a deaf home with about 15 children who do not have the ability to use words to express the way that they feel.  My first day there I completely fell in love. It is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been; not because of the scenery but because of the atmosphere of love, joy, and hope that these children have cultivated. They are so joyful and loving towards others; they are so welcoming and every single one of them lights up with the biggest smile when they see us walking through the front gate. They have taught me so much about the power of my words especially having realized that I have been blessed with the ability to vocalize my opinion whenever, wherever, and however I want. Being at the home with these kids I really have to think about what I want to say before I say it; mostly because I don’t know much sign language and it takes me forever to remember the hand motions that I need to do. But nevertheless, I have found myself thinking about my words more than ever this past week. I have decided that I want to be purposeful with my words. If God has given me the ability to speak then I want to make every word count. I want to speak life into others. I want to encourage and build up others in Christ. I want my words to please my Father in Heaven and I want to Honor Him with the voice that He gave me.

James 1:19
Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;

This is a picture that one of the teachers, who is also deaf, drew for me. He drew a picture of bolivia and then a picture of the USA, as well as a picture of heaven. He was telling me that one day we will see each other in heaven.

This is David.. He is my favorite 🙂 He was trying to teach me some signs…

This is David and some of his brothers from the home playing on the playground.
