If you would have asked me a month ago what my expectations for the next 11 months of my life were, I would have said, with full conviction, “ I don’t have any.”
Come to find out.. I did have expectations.. I had expectations that my team and I would be thrown into the jungle, where it would be really really hot and humid, with no internet, no showers, and no electricity. I expected to have to sleep in my tent, in my sleeping bag and have mosquito nets all around me. I expected to not be able to communicate very well with our ministry contacts and to be doing a lot of hard labor. I expected to be around my team so much that we would all be starving for some alone time.
Wow, was I wrong. God has completely blown my mind this month! God gave my team and I everything that we didn’t expect. We had internet, hot showers, electricity, snacks anytime of the day that we wanted them, beds, and toilet paper! We didn’t have to take our Malaria pills this month, because the big bad mosquito’s don’t hang out here in the city. We got to work with kids in the morning and teach English to teenagers in the afternoon. Our ministry contacts speak very good English and they even took us to some pretty cool places on our off days, which are every Saturday.
Needless to say, my team and I have been extremely blessed this month! I have learned that I always have expectations, even when I think that I don’t, and I’ve also learned that God is full of surprises!
**Tomorrow my team and I are going back to Tanguarine to help build a few walls. Please pray for the ministry in Tanguarine and for our safe travel. Thanks guys!! Love you all 🙂
