So a few nights ago, I pulled into my driveway and I started to unload my car. As I was walking into my house I looked down at my hands and I was like, “Wow, I am spoiled!”.. Let me explain.. In my left hand I held my sunglasses, camera, phone, i-pod, and my wallet (yes I fit all of those things in my left hand! I know very impressive..) In my right hand I held the key to my car.
It was one of those moments that made me stop and think..
Each item that I held in my hand was valued at over $100. Isn’t that crazy… Then I started to think about what I am going to be doing next year.
It is crazy how much my life has been changed by this missions trip and I haven’t even left yet.. I mean I have carried these things into my house many times before and never gave it a second thought. Maybe it is because I would rather have that couple hundred dollars to put towards my trip verses having an i-pod and sunglasses. Then I started to think about what a family from a third world country could do with a couple hundred dollars (or how long that could feed them.)
One of the things I am really looking forward to is God stripping me of all the things that I think I need but I don’t. I mean, I have a lot of stuff and there is no way that I will be able to fit it all into one backpack. My eyes are already being opened to things that I normally wouldn’t see or think about.. I am so excited to see everything that God has in store for my team and I throughout this journey! God is so Good!
This is the backpack that I will be living out of for a year.. Isn’t that awesome!!
