Sawa dee kha!!!!! (Hello in Thai)
When I signed up for the World Race, I thought that I would be suffering.
I thought that I would be smelly the whole time from lack of showers.
I thought that cups of coffee would be few and far between.
I thought I would be hungry all the time………
WELCOME TO THAILAND!!!
Here is Thailand, we are beyond blessed. My squad has the privilege of being one of the first squads to launch into Thailand at the beginning of their route instead of in the middle or at the end. This past week has been a time of debrief and training before we start ministry today.
What we learned first off is that the Thai people love to shower, like multiple times a day. Body odor is very offensive here and the culture expects you to be clean and tidy all the time. This means that we are taking multiple showers a day!!! I thought I’d never shower, yet we are blessed to have showers (with hot water) and even more blessed because we are expected to use them frequently! Praise the Lord!
The food here is wonderful. My squad and I are living above Zion coffee house in Chaing Mai. That’s right, coffee everyday if I want it! 🙂 God has been so good to us!
As for how my time here in Thailand has been so far, it has been absolutely wonderful. After about a week of training, our squad had this past Sunday. Many of the teams decided to do this combo adventure pack that our contact, Emmy got for us for almost half the price! We started our day riding elephants through a jungle terrain. I rode on the neck on the biggest elephant there! He was at least ten feet tall! We named him Gigantor because he was so tall. It was so amazing.
Then we ate lunch and visited a waterfall. We were able to swim in it and quite a few people cliff jumped into the water. After that, we bamboo rafted down a river. It was such a fun day, but also very full and very tiring.
On Saturday night, My team finally found out our ministry for the month. We are one of three total teams that have been assigned to bar ministry this month! I am so excited! This was the ministry I was praying for. God has really given myself and several other girls on my team a heart for sex trafficking and that’s exactly what bar ministry here in Thailand concerns.
My team will be going out to the bars every other night to build relationships with the women stuck in the sex trafficking industry. We will go out during the day time to interact with them and then we will go back out at night to spend time with them. On the nights that my team stays behind, we will be interceding on behalf of the other teams going out to the bars. I am praying that God would give me even just one girl to connect with.
Please be in prayer for my team. This ministry is really intense and involves a lot of heavy spiritual warfare. We are really excited for what God is going to do this month in us as a team as well as through us.
I want to thank you all again for the support you have shown me, both financially and prayerfully. I would not be able to be here in Thailand without your help. I still need $3,500 to be fully funded. If you would prayerfully consider partnering with me, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you all so much!
