Mzuzu, Malawi
Mission: Harvesters International
Purpose: To reach the unreached and preach the gospel so
that people can come to know the love of Christ.
On the drive to Malawi, as we were passing through beautiful
scenery, my heart was beating with anticipation. Malawi is so beautiful! As we
arrived to meet the pastor, my excitement grew. I knew God had something big
planned for me here in Malawi. I knew that I was going to get stretched out of
my comfort zone, and be humbled by how BIG God is and how LITTLE I am. I know
that I really have nothing to do with what we are doing – it is all God.
On our first day of hut-to-hut ministry, Katie, Caleb,
Meghan and I were working together. We walked to our first place and got to the
village. I love it here because Malawi is known as the “warm heart of Africa,”
and they really are! Every place we go, they drop everything they have to
gather the whole village together just to listen to what we have to say.
We gave the message of the gospel and asked if anyone wanted
prayer. A man came forward to get prayer about a struggle he has had with
alcoholism. We prayed for him and then another lady came forward. This lady had
a very far off look in her eyes and said that she had been dealing with a
headache since 2008. We begin to pray for her, when all of a sudden she started
manifesting like a demon. This was the first time that I had ever seen this
before, other than from a distance, and I wasn’t really sure what to think of
it. As we continued to pray, she
lay on the ground thrashing around. It was awful to watch and we continued to
pray fervently. After about fifteen minutes, she stopped – she was delivered of
the demon….it was so amazing to see God work in such powerful ways!
We prayed for another boy who had a stomach ache. He could
hardly stand, but after we prayed, he ran across the village with a huge smile
across his face! Can you believe that we have seen miracles first hand? BIG
HUGE miracles! Praise God!
After that village, would you believe that we went to
another village where the whole village ended up accepting Christ! God is
moving here in Malawi – big time – and I can’t wait to see what else He has in
store!
On Monday, we are off to another town in Malawi where we
will get to see more of God’s amazing miracles! Then we will be off to another
city to spend Christmas with some fellow teammates that are also stationed in
Malawi.
