I think the race in my mind was going to be this huge year of my life, something full of crazy radical stories of God showing up and miracles blowing our minds. But honestly, it’s just another year of life. Yes, full of adventures, life lessons and bomb memories also some not so great memories. (Back in Nam getting poisoned…)
Those experiences however, will continue to come. The next adventure will be there. I’ve learned ministry is a life style, and if you try cramming it into being big extravagant moments you will get burnt out. And I was beginning to feel, burnt out. Then I realized I was making it more complicated than it needed to be. I just need to focus on my relationship with my Pops and to continue falling deeper and deeper in love with Him. It’s easy to allow my expectations of wanting to see the Spirit move in radical ways, over rule the simplicity of just loving God and from that outpour flows all His goodness. How Satan loves to take something beautiful and make it destructive. I can get caught up in these ideals or I can bask in the simplicity of His love. Living out of His love, and letting it direct me, shape me and consume me. Sounds so simple right? Haha- probably because it is.
I don’t really want to waste my time over complicating things any more. I don’t want to let life pass me by but as us World Race folks like to say, have US happen to life.
This month we live in a cute apartment right on the water surrounded by snow cap mountains. So obviously, I sit out and reflect. So deep I know. I thought I would share some lessons I’ve learned on the race so far. And still learning…Shall we begin?
1.) BE YOUR SELF. You know why? Because that’s who you were created to be. The gifts you were given, were what you were made to function out of. I’m the best Katy Knutson around!
2.) It’s awesome to love people the way you love, but even more awesome to love others how they need to be loved. Let that one sink in. Haha
3.) To lead well – you need to learn how to speak the language of the people your leading.
4.) To be raw, real, authentic, is to open up doors of intimacy for God to use you and teach you a ton. (Also, saves a lot of time)
5.) Confidence is key. Whether it’s speaking to churches, telling strangers in the street about Jesus, rockin’ a wild outfit or dance moves, confidence supplies people with trust.
6.) If you sit back, listen, and watch you often can learn a lot about someone as well as give God an opportunity to speak to you. There’s often more behind the scene.
7.) The Kingdom of God is already here and doing work. I just needed to open my eyes to it and jump in.
8.) God can use anyone and everyone! Like annnnnnyoneeee.
9.) It’s not worth stressing out because God’s already a billion steps a head of me and He likes to do what He wants. But here’s the catch, He actually cares what I want and supplies it anyways! It just might look differently than what my boring imagination cooked up!
10.) I’m worth it. You’re worth it!
