Isn’t it funny when we throw up a prayer to God asking for something after we have this flickering desire? The other day I had an epiphany that somewhere along the road I lost sight of the importance of being truly in tuned with the Holy Spirit. I’ve been distracted by activities and reaching goals that prevented the Spirit from fully reigning in my life. So, I simply told God that I craved for Him to use me as vessel to be filled with His Spirit, not to keep, but to reveal it to others. I was tired of muting all that God could do in my life for I was simply putting it on the back burner. I know He loves to show His radical love to others in His naturally supernatural ways.
Ironically…well not so ironic…I was helping an 81-year-old spunky lady move. As we were eating lunch I explained the World Race journey. Suddenly, she dropped her hamburger, looked at me with her wise eyes and proclaimed we needed to pray. Before I knew it this cute old lady began praying over me in tongues. In my head I thought, “This just got real!” From the moment she began praying for me, I felt the Holy Spirit radiating from her. She eventually was praying in English when I realized she was claiming how strong she felt the His Spirit inside of me, and how God was going to do big things. I began balling of course, and so was she. As I was embracing this gentle but strong women, she encouraged me to pray every night to invite the Holy Spirit to ignite within me.
I left her house feeling like I just spoke to Yoda and was given a mission. Totally pumped because God used this little old lady to speak such truth and affirmation in me – to bask in God’s presence, because He wants to use His children to proclaim who He is, and all that is perfect and wonderful about Him…aka everything! I can’t wait to see how the Holy Spirit not only unifies our team but works through each individual to bring healing and hope to others.
