If you think back in time, seven months ago, to my month in Bolivia where my team and I partook on a journey called Unsung Heroes Campaign (UHC). Remember that? Well if not I will explain again what Unsung Heroes is in a little while. Anyway, the point is, my current team has been given the same opportunity only here in Cambodia. It should be an AMAZING month full of different experiences that will showcase just a sliver of the ways God is working here in Cambodia.
Team Honda and I will be staying in Siem Reap, Cambodia for most of the month and looking for new ministry contacts around the area.
As for those of you who may not remember what UHC is here is a quick overview:
UHC is when Racers on the field in any given country spend time, usually a specific month that is assigned to their team, and spend time looking for new contacts that the World Race can partner with in the future. However we aren’t looking for just anyone to partner with; they have a specific type of person and ministry in mind, hence the title Unsung Hero.
An Unsung Hero is a person who is:
· Unsung or unrecognized for their work
· Working with the Poorest of the Poor
· With a heart to bring the Kingdom of God
We are looking for ministries and contacts where a Race team’s skill sets will be put to the greatest use. As part of our ministry this month we will be utilizing all of our resources, from personal contacts, social media, word of mouth, prayer, Google searches and cold calling to find people who may be potential partners for the World Race in the future.
While we are doing more behind the scenes work this month we still have an important role here in Cambodia as we work with UHC, we are the hands and the feet in the country, we are able to make personal connections with people, build relationships, check out ministries and see first hand who and what is impacting the country in the name of Jesus. All of which is easier here on the field than back in the states.
If you are wondering about ways that you can help, here are a few things that we can use:
Prayer for motivation and a renewed excitement for UHC.
Unlike in Bolivia, when it was my teams first encounter with UHC, this time around four out of the six of us have had previous experiences doing UHC, with this brings about a mixture of emotions, feelings and thoughts about the Month. Please keeps us in your prayers, specifically that we will stay motivated throughout the month, and not let any experiences in the past hold us back from embracing this month.
Help us find contacts:
If you have any knowledge of people here in Cambodia that my team could contact about checking out their ministries, visiting their churches, etc. It would be an awesome blessing if you could share them with us. Because the more information we can collect, the more potential partners we can have, and the bigger impact we can make for Jesus.
UHC Cambodia here we come!
