Hello Everyone!

It is month two of my World Race! I am now in Trujillo, Peru and have been for a week now. We arrived here at our base camp for the month last Sunday after a long few days of travel first from Ecuador.

I loved Ecuador! My team and I lived with a pastors family in Huaticocha, a small town in the Amazon Basin, we were 6 hours from Quito and only about 5 miles away from virgin rainforest. I loved the people Ivan, Nanci and their five year old son Isaac. They spoke very little English, and I ended up being the main form of communication between my team and the family. Which wasn’t a surprise to me, because I knew when I signed up for the Race that God would put me in a situation like that so I had no way to not use my Spanish. We were however blessed to have a translator when it came to ministry times, so I was able to slowly slip into the Spanish speaking mindset.

We focused largely on children’s ministry last month, where we did an afterschool like program in a four different communities, where we played games, did a bible lesson and played more games.  I think we played soccer all but two or three days last month. We also did a great deal of construction and manual labor, there is a mission school that is in the process of being completed about a ten minute walk from where we stayed that one of the other teams stayed, and we worked with them quite frequently on the school.

One of my favorite things last month was when we spent four mornings working on the farm of one of the locals. My team had prayed for his wife, she is not able to get around for a variety of reasons and found out that her husband needed a lot of help on his farm. He had taken over the household chores and caring for his wife, so his farm was overgrown. We spent those four mornings working for him, hacking away with machetes in overgrown farmland. The farm land in the area consists largely of Cacao Trees (chocolate) and other fruit. We accomplished so much those few days, I honestly don’t know how he would have been able to do all that we did without our help. It was just a blessing to be able to help him.

God has been doing some amazing things, there is so much to share, but I don’t even know where to begin. If you want to know more specifics please let me know I would be happy to share more with anyone who wants know more.

Thank you for all your prayers and support this last month. I look forward to sharing with you what is happening here in Trujillo!

Blessings,

Katrina
