One year ago, my friend left me a note to encourage me in a job interview I had coming up. Its funny, because the note may be simple, and it may be a year old, but I feel like it perfectly describes this week and this month. This is a new beginning for a new season, and God is going to do new things through me and my squad. This is real life.
This week at Launch, all three July squads stayed at a hotel in Washington, DC. We roomed together, fellowshipped together, laughed together, cried together, and loved each other. Some of my best talks were in the middle of the night with the amazing women on my squad. I was encouraged and challenged and loved in such incredible ways by these people who have so quickly become family!
Last night, as we finished up all of our Launch teachings and exercises, we spent a good chunk of time praying with our leaders. I was so blessed to pray with my amazing squad leader Rachel. God used her hugely to reassure me as I walk into this new season and in this calling on my life, and I am so thankful she will be with us the first few months of the Race. Her love for all of us on the squad is so evident!
As of right now, I am sitting in the Dulles Airport, waiting to check in. My flight to Dublin, Ireland leaves at 10 EST. Once we land, we will continue on a 6 hour bus ride to our ministry site in Northern Ireland. We are going to a town called Coleraine, and, along with two other teams, will be working with a Vineyard church in the city. We will be tasked with a large variety of ministries around the town.
When I first heard about the Race nearly nine months ago, I daydreamed about what it would be like to be out there on the Race living life and serving God. I’m here now, starting this journey, and it is so surreal. I still don’t think its hit me that I’m on the Race yet. I think it will once I get to Ireland and begin ministry.
To all of my supporters, thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for your support and love. I would not be here if not for your love and support. God has tasked me with a mission, with a calling, and because of your generosity and prayers, I am here walking it out. Thank you for stepping out and walking this out with me.
“This is the beginning….”
