I gotta start by saying that I really, really hate writing about myself so if this is all over the place, forgive me! ha

I am Katie McNeil. I'm 20 years old and I live in a small town on an island in Northwest Washington. I love it here and I'm convinced that this is the prettiest part of the country. We have forests and lakes and beaches everywhere. Its pretty amazing.

I graduated from dental assisting school in June of 2011, fulfilling a 13 year goal of mine. Because i went to local tech school, I still live at home. But thats fine because my parents are great! I love 'em! They also used to own a bakery so they make a pretty incredible cheesecake.

My parents and I right after dental school graduation.

I also have an older sister, Jen. She lived in England for three years while getting her BA in Broadcast Journalism and now lives near LA. She moved when I was 16 and we haven't seen each other much since then, but we still have so many ridiculous inside jokes that can make us laugh instantly.

My mom, sister and I, Summer 2010. Can you tell we're related?

I also have a lot of pretty amazing friends. I wouldn't be where I am in life or who I am in life without them. In fact, I probably wouldn't even be going on the World Race if not for a couple of them! God has blessed me so much in friendships in the last few years and I am so grateful.

I currently work at a take and bake pizza place. I've been working here off and on for over four years and its pretty amazing. My coworkers are some of my closest friends and we make a nice little family. We also have a really fun time at work, singing, laughing, yelling, joking around and just having a good time.

Last year I got to go to England and France to watch my sister graduate from university. We spent three weeks traveling and I thought that that was the trip of a lifetime. I'd never heard of The World Race! ha Anyways, we got to see lots of cool stuff on that trip, and it really ignited my love for traveling.

Penny Lane in Liverpool, England…saw it on our Beatles tour!

I love love love music. I play guitar and bass and pretty much always have a song playing in my head. I also love going to concerts. I once drove 20 hours round trip just to see my favorite band (Flyleaf). My favorite music to listen to lately is worship because there is such a power to connect to God through music. My favorite worship bands are Jesus Culture, Misty Edwards, Kim Walker and Cory Asbury.

I'll share more about my testimony and how I ended up on the World Race in a later post. For now, I'll share my favorite Bible verses.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.-John 14:27

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.-Romans 8:28

One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD
And to meditate in His temple.-Psalm 27:4
