Team Luminous had a team change at debrief. Chelsea was moved to another team, and we
gained Kirsten as a new member. I am sad
about losing Chelsea but I know that this was a wise decision and will mean new
growth for her as well as for our team. As
sad as I am about losing Chelsea I am just as excited to have Kirsten as a new
teammate. She brings a new level of
openness to the team. With any team
change like this we decided to come up with a new team name. After praying about it we decided on team
Heartbeat. The heart is a vital part of
the body that brings life. Scientists
cant find out what makes the heart beat for the first time. We are a vital part of the body of Christ and
cant wait to see the way God uses us in the next 5 months.
Leaving the hostel Saturday morning, I had no idea what to
expect in Mozambique. All we knew at
that time was our contacts name, Pastor Eduardo. We also found out that we will be working
with the ladies of Team Radiant this month. Coming in on the bus from South
Africa it felt like we had somehow jumped continents and landed in South
America. It was dark and the streets
were crowded with bumper to bumper cars and taxi vans (combis), the sides were
filled with people trying to find a taxi to crowd into. The street markets, the
condition of the houses, the trash that covered the ground and all of the sand
reminded me so much of Trujillo, Peru. The
tropical trees that surround the property we are staying on remind me of
Ecuador.
Pastor Eduardo met us at the bus station when we
arrived. He had arranged a kombi to take
us to his house. As we arrived they were
setting up a large tent for us to sleep in. 12 girls, one large tent. Thank
God we brought our own that we could set up as well. We found out that we would be doing a lot of
door to door evangelism and prayer this month as well as taking a part of
evening services 3 times a week.
Expectations for this month:
Hard living conditions
Hard ministry
To be pushed out of my comfort zone daily
To see God show up in supernatural ways
To experience and take part in a miracle healing
