One of the things that I have committed to in 2012 is to give thanks more. My teammate, Julie, and I have decided to take time each day to take notice of gifts given to us that we can be thankful for. Our goal is to write down at least six things each day, so that by the end of our trip we will each have written down a thousand things that we are thankful for. It is amazing how different my days are since having begun this. I am less distracted by the stresses and struggles of the day and more focused on the goodness of each day. Most of the things that I have written down are small, even silly things. Like having fresh pineapple at lunch, going for a motorcycle ride, or even waking up to another beautiful day in Rwanda.

The first thing I got to put down on my things to be thankful for on January 1st:

                                        BEING FULLY FUNDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could write that down in my journal a thousand times and I would still want to keep repeating it. THANK YOU sooo much! It is such a blessing seeing all who have given so generously toward this trip – My family and my friends, people who I have met along this journey, and some people who I have never even met. I hope that each of you know what a gift your support and your prayers are. Not just to me, but to many, many others across the world as well.

So THANK YOU!!!! Thank you for being the first gift of 2012 to give thanks for!
