I AM BLOWN AWAY!
Of course, I have to give you the novel version:)
My grandparents went on an RV trip last year with other couples who were also traveling in their RV’s. Through this trip, they were able to meet several other people from different areas. One couple, the Walkers, ended up meeting my grandparents and through this trip they became good friends within the last year.Throughout their time traveling together, my grandma mentioned that I was in Ethiopia teaching (at the time). The Walkers were so sweet, and dedicated to pray for me while I was there, adding me to their prayer list. Many times, my grandma would update me saying that her friends were stilllll praying, which was always an encouragement:) A couple I’ve never met, but could tell they cared so deeply.
Now my grandparents are taking another RV trip this summer, and the Walkers will also be going again. However, my grandparents planned to be in Pennsylvania prior to the trip in order to visit with family. For whatever reason, the Walkers decided that they too would come visit Pennsylvania and spend time with my grandparents before their trip.
This week, they have all been together in Pennsylvania. My grandma mentioned my upcoming mission’s trip on the World Race. They discussed some of the details, and at the end of their time together, the couple handed my mom a check to give to me for my fundraising. They said that they felt like their time in Pennsylvania was really so that they could hear more about my story and support my calling. WOW, unbelievable. Friends, the check was for ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS. One. Thousand. Dollars. Can you see the tears in my eyes?! From 2 people that I’ve never met before. 2 strangers. But yet, they are so willing to give and to support this crazy adventure I feel called to.
This means I have officially met my first July deadline. This means I will officially be able to attend the training camp in August and not be moved to a different trip. This means that my faith is growing the size of a … (a mountain, an ocean, the sky – i don’t really know, think of something HUGE).
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Walker family, for blessing me more than you will ever know. I cannot thank you enough. I am in tears, and I hope to meet you some day
