I’ve been doing a lot of reading in the last few weeks and God has been speaking to me so much through literature. It’s the craziest concept that The Lord of all the earth adores, pursues, loves and romances me on a daily basis. In the last few years as my faith with God has grown more personal and intimate, I’ve also fallen more in love with His beauty and creation that is all around me. In one of the books I’ve been reading called Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge, it talks about Jesus as my lover and the pursuer of my soul. He romances me by providing me sunsets, mountain ranges, deep conversations with people, giving me moments to love on the baby at church, and in so many other ways. When he is romancing me, he’s showing his great and unfailing love that he has for me. He is blessing me in countless ways each and every day. He lets me sit with him quietly and speaks beauty and truth over my life. He gives me joy that I’ve never felt before. He allows me to love myself.
The romance our Lord shows is personal towards each one of us. He knows what I desire, what makes me happy, what pulls on my heart strings. He makes all of it unique to our hearts desires and passions. What a sweet God we have? He loves me, he REALLY love me! And he loves you! He’s constantly in pursuit of your heart whether you’re aware of it or not. He will never stop trying to get your attention, stop loving you, or stop pursuing your whole soul. Forever. Woah.
I just want to share how in love with The Lord I am. Love has always been a questionable word in my life and I finally understand love and how to accept it from my perfect creator. It is free. It is unconditional. It is pure. It’s everlasting. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 puts it perfectly. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails.”
If I am not acting in these ways, then I’m not loving the ways Jesus loves. This passage is super convicting but so important for us to really study and passionately pursue for ourselves. As for God, he has and will always be perfect in his love. It is the greatest feeling in the world when I can sit at his feet and pour out my whole soul to him without any judgement or condemnation. It is a feeling that I’ve never had before- loving my Lord. It is passionate, sweet, fervent, gentle, and so many other words. I am his beloved and he is mine.
