I have been in Haiti for about 12 days now and am really beginning to understand the AIM way of life down here. I dearly love living in community with such world changers as…. Tonya Norman, Seth Barnes, Aaron Bruner, Steph Connors, Mark Newland, Ben Valentine, Neil Bruinsma, Sarah Rice, Paige Pappanastos, and so many others whose blogs I don’t even have.

Our interpreters are incredible men (and one woman) of God. Geftay, John, Samuel, Watson, Zachary, and Natasha and many others…Their ministry is evident as they work. I’ve had the pleasure of working with several of them on video shoots, and every time I get to hang out with these guys, I am blessed. As I get to know them more and more, I hope to share some of their stories here as well. It is such an honor to be able to work with them and provide jobs for them!

Every day here is different, and life in a constantly revolving community never gets boring. There is always work to be done (for me, editing videos; for others, more direct service opportunities) and always stuff going on. AIM is hosting short-term teams all summer. Each team works with a pastor for five days, living in tents on the pastor’s property and serving in whatever capacity needed – which may include rubble removal (from church members’ destroyed homes), children’s ministry, praying for people and, of course, distributing food, tarps and other essentials. I will be sharing more stories on this blog as time goes on.
This opportunity God’s given me has already changed my life, and I know it will continue to do so. Haiti is changing into something better than it was before. The Spirit of God has come to this country in an unprecedented way, and the Christians are praising Him every day. We constantly hear people singing praises to God in the churches and school tents near our house on the hill. As I continue to grow in my videography skills and discover stories to tell, I can’t wait to share more of the new-birthed joy that’s so evident here and that’s bubbling up in my own heart each day.
Mesi Jezi! Alleluya! …(Thank you Jesus, Hallelujah!)
PS – I’ve embedded a video or two in this blog. To watch them, you have to go to the blog page, because they don’t show up in the email.
