At the end of 2015 last year, I wrote a blog that was called “Bring it On, 2016.” In this blog, I reflected on all that the year of 2015 had given me…and I looked forward in anticipation for all that 2016 had to offer.
Man has it been a crazy one.
During the 365 day cycle of 2016, I: lived in Mexico for three months, lost the life of my father, graduated from high school, left for the World Race, have lived in Southeast Asia for three months, and am about to move to Malawi for another three months. Sometimes I can’t even believe this is my life; I have to sit back and remind myself how blessed I am to be doing what I am doing.
This life is a crazy whirlwind of grace upon grace upon grace upon grace. I am so thankful for the path that the Lord has set me on…and for the people he has placed in my life to walk through this season with me. I’m not going to sugar coat it: life on the Race is hard. It’s tiring, the food could be a little bit better, living in community sucks sometimes, and a lot of the time, all you want to do is go home. But it’s so good. This life is so sweet and adventurous, and paved completely by the Lord.
So, yeah, 2016 you have been good to me. Thank you for bringing me much laughter, fond memories, and hard times. Thank you for your harsh realities, and for the moments of pure joy. I would not regret this year for anything.
As 2016 turns into 2017, I find myself excited to complete this task that the Lord has put upon me. The Lord is going to finish what He started inside of me during 2016-and He’s going to finish the World Race with me.
With Christ behind me in 2016, and Christ before me in 2017, I am ready and willing to take on all that this upcoming year has to offer. Whatever He has to throw my way, I am open to let it change me, mold me, and make me into who He has made me to be.
So, Bring It On, 2017.
