Dear readers,
This month my team’s job is to look for Unsung Heroes–people who are advancing the Kingdom and could benefit from some encouragement, publicity, or manpower (all of which we have!).
Here in South Africa, there is so much need for the Kingdom. Apartheid (and other factors) has left a legacy of poverty, gang violence, drug and alcohol addiction, teen pregnancy, and high HIV/AIDS incidence. Fortunately, many people and ministries are rising up to bring hope and healing to this community, and I have been so encouraged by the outreaches I have seen in action.
One of the organizations I’ve been privileged to see at work is Thembalitsha, which means “New Hope.” The organization has seven branches which aim to bring hope to entire communities through education, training, and healthcare. Its programs include medical care and overnight facilities for individuals with AIDS and TB, schools for at-risk youth, entrepreneurship training for unemployed persons, and my favorite—Bosom Buddies. I could tell you about it, but it would be way more fun if you watched the video! So enjoy my two favorite Thembalitsha videos, and check out their Youtube channel if you want to see more–I guarantee one of their 7 ministries will strike a chord with you.
Til next time!
Katie
