Day 2
Until the short-term teams arrive, we’re just helping out with small bible studies and having an opportunity to process this final month. Tomorrow we’re going to climb the volcano! Hopefully that goes well.
I’m thinking that this blogging every day thing may be a bit more difficult than I thought. At the same time, I think it can give you an insight into the daily life on the race. A lot of the stuff that gets posted on Facebook is jumping off of mountains, feeding orphans, prayer and worship (which are all fantastic). Honestly a lot of our race is not too different than our lives at home. We’re just doing life in another country. So two things that you can take away from that: everyone can share love on a daily basis and everyone can do crazy things regardless of where you are.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned on the race is to make the most of my time. Today, I feel like I wasted the day away. I worked on resumes, cover letters, went out to get minutes for our phones (FINALLY that’s actually been the biggest struggle…), ate meals but other than that felt unproductive. I’m at this point where I don’t want to squander any opportunity. I want to carpe diem with everything that I have. We’ve only been given so much time so I want to take advantage of this gift. Everyday is a new day…here’s to the rest of tonight.
