Sorry this is a bit overdue but this is Cambodia 2.0: The adventures of Team Abundant Life in a riveting plot twist returning to a previously traversed country!

Cambodia as a country has been one of my favorite overall months/countries on the race. Our team was a little confused because it felt like multiple months. A strange time warp happens on the race where you no longer associate months with their actual names like March or December. Months are now named by the country that you lived in, so you can see why this past month (months?) was a little confusing with border hopping from Cambodia to Thailand to Cambodia to Thailand to Malaysia. Ultimately, your host can make or break your month. We’ve had fantastic hosts for both rounds so I think that’s why I’ve enjoyed it so much!

In Cambodia 2.0, our team worked in the Overflow Guesthouse, formerly known as Natural Angkor Villa. There we did everything: reception, serving in the restaurant, painting, swimming (I know we were struggling for Jesus). Our hosts Scott and Christina are former racers and they just get it! They get what we’re going through whether it’s missing our families or going through a ½ way slump, they just understood the struggle.

I was able to work reception, which was so much fun! It really reminded me of my job back at home.   I think the best part of the guesthouse was the guests. While that seems simplistic and obvious, we were able to just simply be. We were able to interact with the guests and make friends. I met a yoga instructor from Finland, an Englishman who lives in Norway, and a girl from Argentina (I was able to talk to her for 20 minutes in Spanish!) just to name a few! It reminded me that while our world can seem small at times, it is such a large and vibrant place. Its inhabitants crave attention.  That’s really what this silly little thing called life comes down to…

To know and to be known.
