God, why don’t people respond
how I want them to?
Have you ever felt the inclination to share with someone a specific statement? Or has God ever asked you to ask someone a question? And you respond with, “God this doesn’t even make sense? I must have a wild imagination because that could not have been from You God.”
Sometimes for me, the words that come out of my mouth are even on topic and could be used to fuel the conversation. You know the times when you get done speaking and think to yourself, “Man that was good. I can’t wait for the revelation on this one.” Yet, the words seem to fall on deaf ears, the answers were not the ones we expected, or not received well. In the past it has even made me question if I am actually hearing from God.
So my question to God is WHY?
Why God am I being asked to say or pose questions only to look like a fool.
Immediately He started speaking, “Many reasons my love.” I sat up a little straighter, as if He had just walked into the room. He began sharing examples, “to provide internal thought, to get them to self evaluate, to stir up emotions that encourage them to ask questions that reveal a deeper root issue. Trust me that I am doing something bigger than your eyes can see and your ears can hear. Continue to obey my voice sweet daughter.”
He continued, “Sometimes I need you to plant the seed. Trust me that I will protect it and bring others to water and harvest these words. I have fashioned your voice to have a specific sound, to convey a certain message. Sometimes your voice is better received as the seed. Other times I am able to use your voice as the water or to bring fruition of the harvest. Continue to obey.”
Sometimes I ask questions that I don’t expect God to answer right away, this was certainly one of those questions. But thankfully God doesn’t fit in my box. He wanted to redeem the confusion this has caused me. And He asked me to share to bring redemption to the confusion that I am sure many others have had in comparable situations.
God is not a god of confusion. He delights in your voice; so don’t let confusion, self-doubt, or any other reason keep you from speaking. We are His sheep. We may not know where we are going, but stand strong in knowing that we have the GOOD Shepherd leading us.
What question do you need to ask God? I encourage you to pray, ask, and listen.
John 10:27
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
