After dinner we walk back through the crisp dark night down the road to where we are staying. We get to our room and slowly begin to get ready for bed after a day full of ministry. As I am just about to hop into my sleeping bag I suddenly hear music and a drum playing loudly outside. I and a few other squad-mates run to the window to see a bonfire burning brightly and all around it people joyously dancing. Immediately I know I must go.
Three of us walk down not knowing what we are about to get ourselves into. For it truly was beyond anything I could’ve expected. We were excitedly welcomed over to join in on the festivities. From that moment on I could feel Gods presence. We danced. We sang. The pastor preached a sermon in Hmar while a kind lady next to us translated his words. Then we prayed. It was indescribable. The joy in these peoples eyes. How they truly live for God with all their hearts.
They keep telling us thank you, but in reality I think they have blessed us more.
The greatness of what God is having me be a part of has finally hit me: being in India and pressing my full heart into the goodness of the Lord. We have constructed and cleaned at the hospital. We have helped at a kids retreat with literally thousands of children. We have worked side by side in the kitchen with the locals who make our every delicious meal. We have spent time with the seminary students, I even gave a devotional! We did a mobile medical clinic in a Hindu village, we put on a VBS, and SO MUCH MORE!
My soul is on fire. I have found freedom in His love! I cannot wait to share more with you all, but I want my pictures to accompany the stories. Hopefully in just over a week we will have some better wifi access so that I can post a photo blog. This is just one story of many to come…
So much love to you all! Please pray for my team and I as we continue to dig into what God has for us here in India.
Katie
