Unsung Heroes was the most unique of experiences. It’s difficult to fully describe what the month was like. Every day was different. Sometimes we researched and googled and emailed and called peoples. Other days we went out and just talked to people or prayed over the local areas. My favorite days were when we got to meet with ministries and hear about what they’re doing.
The hearts of these people are so beautiful. They’re passionate and sold out for the kingdom. They’re truly making a difference in the world, both humanitarianly and spiritually. Each place I just wanted to throw myself in and be a part of what they’re doing.
It was so exciting to think about how future teams would be able to encourage and bring life to these ministries as well as how impactful it would be for the teams themselves. To think that I’ve been a part of connecting people into a larger network, to build each other up- what an incredible legacy!
Some of the wonderful ministries I was so blessed to get to know are:
-Central Thailand Mission
– Nightlight
-Raumnimit Bangkok Church
-Ruth Center
-Siam-Care
-Shalem House
Each ministry has a different style and focus but ultimately they all love God and want to serve Him and His purposes. I would be honored to work with any one of them after the Race. (But I promise myself every month I won’t make any plans just yet!) Whether it was bar ministry with Nightlight or chillin with the community at Shalem House (kind of like a Ronald McDonald House), etc. each experience opened my perspective up to more of how God uses people to love on the least of these.
It also made me miss having one set contact. I would diffidently do UH again but I am SO looking forward to working with one ministry and being there for all of the day to day stuff. I can’t wait to get to Laos tomorrow (early morning!) and throwing myself into college ministry with our contact there.
I going to miss having the freedom to sing on rooftops during my God time and straight-forwardly tell people what I’m doing here in Asia. However, I’m looking forward to learning new ways to proclaim who Jesus is and new ways to splash His love on the people I’m around. And I’m looking forward to benefit from the legacy of previous World Racers who found this wonderful contact.
Cause in the end we’re all a part of the same network. We’re all in the same huge, crazy family. I just love being a part of something that helps join us together in this grand adventure called life.
*If you have any questions or would like to hear more about any one of these ministries please let me know. I’d be more than happy to share what I know and share my sources. 🙂 If you’re looking into going and serving in Thailand, with an organization or no, these are some great options you should diffidently check out.
As always I love and miss you guys,
Katie
Ps: Leaving for Laos in T-minus 4 hours! What a life! ~Gunna go be a spy now ;p
