For the past two weeks I have been exploring Iceland on a school photography trip. With this unique opportunity I have seen beautiful mountains and powerful waterfalls. I have seen glaciers, geysers and volcanoes. I’ve ridden the infamous Icelandic horse while it snowed all around me. I have met so many amazing people and heard some of their stories. I’ve been told over and over again about the elves of Iceland as well as the trolls.
The fact that people throughout Icelandic history have believed in elves and trolls does not surprise me at all after I have been able to see just a little of this place. This small island is covered with miraculous sights and wonders, that would leave anyone questioning how they have come to be? Things this beautiful cannot just come into being they have to have help, someone or something has had to create these masterpieces. And I use the term masterpieces very deliberately because everything I have seen has been a work of art.
I have been in constant of awe of how God created this one small place with so many different wonders. Everywhere I look I can see another piece of art. Yesterday we went hiking on a glacier which is just amazing in itself. I was standing on 300 meters of straight ice while looking around to see volcanic ash then lush mountains in the distance. I mean where else would those three things be together in one place?
Not only could I see God every way I turned my head, but I could feel him as well. After we were done hiking the glacier and walking back to the bus we started getting pelted by giant hail. We had to just stop walking and just wait for it to pass because walking against the hail hurt too much. This painful experience only lasted for about 10 minutes but trust me when I say it felt like an hour. As soon as the hail stopped and I looked over to my right and I could see coming through the mountains a beautiful rainbow. It was as if I could just hear God being like “see, you just have to wait, it will be worth it in the end.”
All in all this trip has just gotten me more excited for the World Race! I cannot wait to go and see even more of God’s masterpieces all around the world, and to do what little I can to help the people living amongst them. To do this though I really need your help if you can give it. Every dollar counts and I will be eternally grateful to you for your support. And even if you cannot donate to me financially I will be needing prayers next year, which will help me more than money ever could. Thank you for reading and I hope that when you walk around today you see the art work of God all around you.
