What is living in Nepal like?
It’s hot. But it also rains a lot and on a rainy day it’s much cooler.
The scenery is gorgeous. There is a LAKE. Praise the Lord. The mountains are circling us and I got to go paragliding from the peak right by our guest house.
Speaking of our guest house, we got #blessed this month. Western toilets, a shower that has HEATED water (if you shower at the end of the day), beds for EVERYONE, screens on the windows (we don’t have to lather up in bug spray before bed, praise!). We have access to a refrigerator, stovetop, and running water in the sink!
We are about a mile walk from Lakeside which is full of coffee shops and DELICIOUS food.
My favorite food so far is from the French Creperie. It’s called Galette. It’s ham, eggs, and veggies, wrapped in buckwheat with a salad on top. It costs 390 nepali rupees. It also comes with a free banana nutella crepe.
100 nepali rupees = 1USD (which means my galette costs $3.90, which is an expensive meal for me, so I can only get it every so often.
My food budget is 400 rupees a day.
Eggs cost 15 rupees/egg. I can get a cucumber, 3 tomatoes, an apple, and a green pepper all for about 180.
My usual go-to lunch is called chotpot. It’s crushed up ramen noodles, fresh veggies, and a lot of other ingredients that I never bothered asking what they were. It only costs 50 rupees though! What a steal.
There are dogs everywhere here in Pokhara.
Everyone here greets each other by saying Namaste. It’s so fun.
There are also lots of tourists. Hippies mostly.
Our ministry here in Nepal involves going to CR’s (cabin restaurants) and DB’s (dance bars). We spend time pouring into the girls who work there and ministering to them.
Our hosts here in Nepal run an independent organization that offers the women skills training and a new place to live so they can make a living for themselves a healthier way.
It’s awesome to be joining alongside them this month and seeing all the freedom God is bringing. Stories to come soon!!!! <3
My overall feelings about Nepal? I would live here in a heartbeat!
