It’s time for a praise report!!!
I’ve been in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a few days now. I came from Madagascar where God made his presence so obviously known in the villages. My team and I saw many people healed, we saw many people find the hope they have been searching their whole lives for, and we saw God changing the village.
Now… Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Culture shock. Skyscrapers. People of all religions filling the bustling streets. Wifi everywhere, American food, malls, laundry services. It’s paradise compared to Africa. After coming from a country that was so opposite and that I saw God moving in so much, it was easy to wonder if God would make himself known in Malaysia like he did in Madagascar. There are so many distractions here for me because it feels much more like America.
So, this morning, Jessie, Levi, Gabby and I made our way to McDonald’s for breakfast before we got on the bus to cross town to go to the mall. As Gabby took a step, she didn’t see the ledge and ended up tripping and almost taking me down with her as she fell. My initial reaction was to laugh because, well, Gabby trips more often than others. But when I turned around, her face was filled with pain. She was grabbing her ankle and I could tell she was trying to hide how much pain she was in as the area was very crowded. She sat on the ledge and the people all around us were asking us if she was okay and pointing us to the hospital right down the road. I crouched down to Gabby’s level. What do I do? Do I help her limp down to the hospital? Do I offer to bring her back to the hotel? Well, I did what I knew best. I prayed. In the middle of the street in Malaysia, a country where christianity is not welcomed and where the reigning religion is Muslim. As people gathered around, Jess, Levi and I began to pray with our eyes wide open. We laid hands on Gabby, and quietly prayed that God would heal her foot. We prayed for less than a minute each. There was nothing fancy about our prayers, we weren’t in a church, we didn’t have our eyes closed and our heads bowed, we simply stopped in the middle of Kuala Lumpur and asked our God to heal Gabby’s ankle. We helped her up and with a giggle she said “it doesn’t hurt at all!” The 4 of us looked between each other as we all just laughed happily in shock. Her ankle was completely healed and we were able to continue on our day without any problems. It was such an amazing reminder from God that despite all the luxuries and diversity and distractions, he’s still here. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I can’t wait to continue to see God revealing himself to me in the country of Malaysia!! Praise Jesus!!!
