Month 3 is in high gear, and there is plenty to tell about our debrief and ministry sites already. But in between each month and each story is a journey in itself… a journey called
TRAVEL DAY.
Each month, this day is in the hands of our good Lord and the squad’s 2 logistics people. That would be me and Ryan Hughes. This time, our flight was a short, 2-hour hop from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok. Even with one team leader recovering from surgery and unable to carry her pack, we formed our usual parade of crazy white people down the street to the bus station, through the KL airport, to our gate, and onto the plane.

Getting through Thai customs and immigration went smoothly enough, even with a human organ in one of the packs.
Come on, my team didn’t spend all that time in a Malaysian hospital, only to leave behind the most interesting evidence! Yes, Chandler‘s appendix is with us. We’ll always have it to remember those special times in Fatimah Hospital.
After waiting in the customs and immigrations lines, I got to the baggage kiosk and nearly wept with joy:
the guys who made it through first had already pulled all of our bags off the kiosk, and divided them up by team onto separate luggage carts. It was such a practical way to love, but it meant the world to me in that moment.
Anyone would assume that it’s stressful to travel as a group of 40 people with an entire spectrum of experience levels. But sometimes it eases the burden of international travel to know they’ve all got my back. Forgive me for being cheesy, but after this week, I seriously love my Q squad.
