This may not be the blog post that you all have been hoping for but it is something that’s on my heart tonight, and I think it’s something that more people need to hear. Tonight my team came together to talk about our day (as we usually do). However, we did something different tonight. We shared our life stories with each other. To me, sharing my testimony has always been a struggle. I’ve always been afraid that after I tell people about my past they won’t love me anymore or they won’t think highly of me, or they may lose for respect. Tonight was different. God showed me His love through my teammates. I got a glimpse of just how much He loves each of us. As my teammates shared their stories, I began to see a more complete and more beautiful person than I had before. I’ll tell you what that was like in just a bit.
After team time, we all headed off to bed. I felt like I needed to journal and as the words started to pour out onto the page, I realize how significant tonight was. I realized just how important my life story is and how important it is to know others’.
God has been laying this on my heart tonight:
Your past is not something you should be ashamed of. Your past is a testimony to others. Your past has God’s name written all over it. As my teammates shared their stories, I saw them more like a masterpiece of the Creator and not just some person that got put on my team. I am comforted in knowing that we serve a loving Father- one who knows us and grows us, one who loves us perfectly. Vulnerability does not dampen the beauty of a person but rather enhances it. Your story is important. It matters. It’s a beautiful testimony of God’s hand in your life. Don’t ever be ashamed of it and don’t ever be afraid to share it.
