‘ you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him. The reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything.’ 2 Corinthians 2:7
My main prayer this year as been this, create in me. o God. a pure heart. Through that prayer the Lord has been cleansing and cleaning my heart. Last month the Lord gave me eyes to see the depths of my heart. Unfortunately, what I saw wasn’t pretty. I saw record after record of wrongs from others that I had kept. The first record dated all the way back to when I was five years old. I was beyond saddened at what I saw because it was a heart that looked nothing like the Fathers heart.
On the race the Lord has been teaching my heart what love is and what love is not. God is love. What we read in 1 Corinthians about love is who God is. ‘ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.’ The Lords love is all things. His love is unconditional and so pure. It is a love that keeps no record of wrongs.
I continued to pray that the Lord would cleanse my heart. His blood and His love covers all. Record after record of the wrongs I had kept began to wash away. It is evident that my heart is a work of the Lords. Only His love could wash it clean. Only His love could create in me a pure heart. A heart that can let go and live in the freedom that He intended His love to give us. Here are lyrics to a song that has really blessed my heart in this season.
Safe from the raging storms
find me in your loving arms
FREE from all my doubts and fears
I have found a haven here
Here is with me- I am not alone
Your love is sweeter then honey
Your love is stronger then death
Your love lifts me of my burdens
Teaches me to dance
Lockstep with my God, My king
Move in perfect harmony
Feel the rhythms of his heart
Know the joy he imparts
I am not alone
To know the joy He imparts we need to live in HIS love. Living in His love provides a freedom that nothing else could fill. It provides a peace that nothing else could surpass. In the mist of the pain of this refining process that my heart is in, i am confident of one thing; I am not alone. Just as my heart spoke of in my last blog I am and will never be alone. My God will never forsake me. The Lord continues to remind me that when there is more to forgive then there is more reason to love.
Lord continue to create in me a pure heart. A heart that walks in humility. A heart that spills out the grace I have receive from you. Teach my heart what it looks like to be obedient in everything. Thank your for you love, it truly does cover all.
Just for fun…
