My name is Katie Marie Duff! I am from Williamsburg Virginia!

Here is a little about me!!

  I am thankful for this
opportunity to share what’s been going on in my life lately. I
graduated from Randolph- Macon College in May of 2007 with a Bachelor
of the Arts degree in Studio Art & Art History. As well as swimming
for RMC for the years I attended our team won the Old Dominion Athletic
Conference my Senior year!! (Beating out Washington & Lee?s 13 year
winning streak!! ๐Ÿ™‚
After finishing college I was able to embark on an adventure with YWAM
(Youth with a Mission) to Australia & Fiji! Speakers from around
the world came to inspire, encourage and give us opportunity to respond
to God! During this time I went to deeper levels with God than ever
before! While on outreach in Fiji, we didn’t search out the beaches and
usual tourist destinations, we traveled deep into the cities and
villages and found the heartbeat of the nation we were in- the people.
We ate with strangers who became our friends. We learned just how much
a smile can communicate when language is not an option. We were able to
experience culture in a whole new way!

Our mission may of been to help others, but I also found myself
& my team incredibly enriched & blessed by sharing in the lives
of some of the world’s most loving people. It was at this time where I
learn more about the big picture of my life and how God wants to use me
to impact the world!

God has now opened a door for me to join Adventures in Missions
(AIM) to participate on The World Race beginning in October 08! The
World Race will take me to 11 countries in 11 months. Through
adventure, ministry, community, and self-growth this program will be
more than a missions program, it’s a pilgrimage!
I am very excited about this trip because I will be able to continue to
build on my relationship with Christ while engaged in my faith in new
ways though a variety of different cultures. We will be the hands and
feet of Jesus to people in desperate need and watch as eyes come alive
as they encounter truth for the very first time.

There is a broken world out there with broken people in need of
real love. Our generation can be the difference in the world. I will
have the opportunity to share my faith in one-on-one conversations, to
tell our own story in front of a crowd, and to show Jesus through my
actions while serving others. I am called to be the voice, be the
hands, be the one to tell them, to show them that they have a Father in
Heaven that loves each and every one of them!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!!

GOD BLESS!!

My Strengths:

*consistent (even keeled, emotions are consistent)

*dependable

*flexible, go with the flow, easy going

*LOVE TO LAUGH

*bring joy, happy, upbeat spirit!

*patience

*adventurous

*good with behind the scenes work, I take initiative to do things that need to get done

*loving personality (but not a touchy feely type of person ๐Ÿ™‚

My Weaknesses:

*quiet/reserved (when first meeting people) but at the same time I am
not hesitant to voice my opinion when I have a strong one/ idea

*I don’t share emotions well, tend to hold things in (Something I really  need to work on)

*Indecisive (Which goes with easy going… so good and bad, like if
asked where I want to go to dinner…I usually say “I don’t care…up
for anything” and I truly mean it…. but on the negative side if we
are to make a decision and it comes down to what I say…I know I will
be able to pull through, but will be uneasy about doing it

*which leads to ….People pleaser (Which is also good and bad…
but in situation above… I would want to make ppl happy and if it were
cut half and half and my vote makes the call I would feel like I let
people down.

* bad at confrontation

*From experience… I sometimes become very overwhelmed by the need
of the communities (3rd world countries, people who live in shacks, no
food, no clothes, dying from things that can easily be cured) I feel
like I need to be doing more than I can take on, when really all I can
do it love as Jesus loved. This one is also a good/ bad because I
shouldn’t think I can help everyone always but it is good that I get
that feeling for the people. If I didn’t my passion for what we are
embarking into on this trip would not be so strong and my heart for all
the people groups would not get carried out like I feel like it’s going
to!!

Expectations for Lindsay (Our Team KARIS leader!!) :

good decision making skills (really important because we are trusting our leader with safety and day to day needs)

can’t be passive… must be ACTIVE (Which I really believe Lindsay is!!!)

Casting a vision (helping us stay encouraged)

takes responsibility

leading as a server

knows how to admit fault

lead by example

Be fun, funny, outgoing, loving, considerate, and happy ๐Ÿ™‚ WHICH I believe you cover VERY WELL!!

Worries:

*Unsafe environments

*worry that there is always more that I can do for the people groups we will be helping out

* fearful of demons and evil spirits that we WILL encounter along
the way…they are powerful, but God will never lead us to anything we
can not handle together! God is FAR FAR more powerful than any demon
that will get in our way or build a wall to try and stop us from
carrying out the work of the Lord.

Expectations for KARIS & ALSO what I am confident we are going to carry out: (so two in one)

*2 Peter comes to mind…what it says to me, and feel like this is the secret to our team and our trip:

We must make every effort to add to our faith, not for
justification, but to prove our standing before God. Our love from God
is not based on Good deeds. WE are called to be the light of the world.
Called out of darkness to live in the light of the Lord. Make every
effort to add to our faith, knowledge, and to knowledge add self
control& to self control add perseverance, and to perseverance add
brotherly kindness & then ADD LOVE!
*Like St. Francis of Assisi said “We must preach the word of the Lord always & when necessary we must use words”

*accept that we all fall short of the glory of God. As a team realize
that only one human has ever lived as a perfect christian life JESUS
CHRIST. With that, not to get down on ourselves or each other because
not one of us is going to go through this trip without making a
mistake, or without sinning.

*The time of heaven is now “The Kingdom of Heaven is in our
midst”. Allow Jesus to set up residence in our hearts and in our team
as a whole.

**** Add self control: over our flesh, instant obedience to the
Holy Spirits promptings- Walking in the power of the Holy spirit****

*We must bless the people not just spiritually but also physically
(feed the hungry, clothe the naked…and the 100’s of other things we
will be able to bless the people with!)

Like my Pastor says: You will be not just faith talking, but faith
WALKING. Literally walking out scripture! No one learns to walk by
himself, he has to have help!! Isaiah says: “We can learn to run and
not grow weary”!!

*Live in faith through LOVE, saying I can’t… but HE can, I don’t want to but HE wants me to, and walk that out.
