On Saturday we went to a Christmas Party for the patients of Sunjan Heart Foundation.
This is an foundation established by a South Korean couple that identifies people in need of various heart surgeries, funds for their surgeries upon qualification, and then does follow-up visits post-surgery.
The Christmas Party was one of their quarterly large group get togethers for their patients. We were asked to prepare skits about creation and salvation, which we performed during the service.
At the end of the service we paired up with the patients and prayed for them.
I first prayed for a woman, whose husband had recently left her.
A few minutes later, my teammate asked us to pray with her for a woman who was experiencing back pain.
We prayed.
We asked her how she was feeling.
She was a little better but still experiencing some pain.
So we pray again.
We ask her how she was feeling.
She told us she no longer had any back pain.
We had her stand up and move around–twisting side to side.
She gleamed with joy and told us that she wasn't experiencing any more pain.
Right after we were done praying for this lady, another woman near her told us she had shooting pain down her left arm.
We prayed, with the lady who had just been healed joining us.
We asked her how she was feeling.
She told us the pain was gone.
She shook her arm around and also joyfully told us that the pain was gone.
This was my first time ever physically seeing someone healed.
It was powerful.
It was encouraging.
It was exactly what Jesus told us to do in Matthew 10:7-8, which is our mission for these 11 months.
"As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,
drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give."
My prayer for these women is that if they
didn't already have a relationship with the Lord,
they would seek to know him personally.
May this Christmas Season have new meaning for
them as they find joy in celebrating the birth of Jesus
and reflecting on all he has done for them…
from life-saving heart surgeries to minor physical healings.
God's hand is clearly at work in their lives.
[Join me in praying for them.]
