In Haiti I experienced a new level of God’s love for me. I’m such a nature person. I would much rather be outside, experiencing God’s creation then indoors. Haiti had some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets I have ever seen. I made it my goal to wake up and see the sunrise over the mountains around 6 every morning. I enjoyed some of my most intimate encounters with the Lord during those times. I also made seeing the sun set in the ocean a priority. There was a moment during one of our off days that God’s artistry in creation just blew my mind. We went to a private beach on a Saturday. It was such a pretty place. I got to read with my feet in the water and jump off of a trampoline that was in the ocean. We also spent time kayaking. BB (one of my amazing squad mates) and I took a kayak out to go exploring. We made it a good ways out and took a rest from paddling, just enjoying looking upon the creation. Amazing mountains towering before us. A colorfully painted beach house on the shore. Beautiful flowers and trees scattered along the coast. Seeing all that while being in the ocean just took my breath away. I’m from the low country of South Carolina, so seeing mountains while being out on the beach is completely new and amazing to me. God’s creation is just so magnificent! He showed me how clearly He loved me through that experience. He loves me enough to bring me to these amazing countries just to witness His beautiful creation and spread his love to the people who live here. Whether it’s the sun shinning on my face, seeing the flowers on my way to Zumba, or hearing the birds chirping, they are all reminders of how God loves me and how much He wants me to bless me with the lovely things of the earth. The next time you are out in God’s creation, see it as a gift from Him. There are so many gifts, born of his love, that He shares with us during each day; it’s crazy – it’s wonderful! If you look for the blessings you will find them.
