Last Sunday, I went to the park. For 5.5 hours, I laid there and slept, read a novel, read the Bible, and listened to 2 sermons by Steven Furtick (elevationchurch.org). Then I grabbed my ipod and a little McDonald's dinner, and I went to a nearby pond and worshiped for 2 hours. I ended the day feeling refreshed, energized, and ready for another week. Spending an entire day like this is not the norm for me, but after being in a state of "go, go, go" for so long, it was some much-needed Jesus time.
This whole week, I have taken my lunch breaks at a park near my work. I just sit there, staring at the ground, and praying and listening and worshiping and soaking in the amazing presence of God.
And the week has gone so much smoother because of this alone time with Jesus. The tension that builds inside me with every interaction is hardly there anymore. The weariness I was feeling in my last entry is barely noticeable anymore. It seems just a little easier to love people and pray for them and serve them.
So, my question is, how will I get alone time with Jesus for 11 months where I'll be with my team 24/7 and being truly alone is against the rules (plus very unwise)? They tell me that listening to your ipod becomes the "universal" sign for being alone. Other than that, there must be other ways for some refreshing Jesus time…
