Career
I'm a 29 year old Physical Therapist, who had no idea if physical therapy was the right career choice until I saw my first patient in PT school. When I treated that patient, my only thought the whole time was, "Wow! I was born for this moment."
Family
I'm a huge fan of my family. My parents are both teachers who do an amazing job of expressing the love of Jesus to their students. They have been married 37 years, and I am blessed to see the deep love and friendship they share. I'm the second-oldest of 4 kids. I have an older brother who is blunt, straightforward, loves Jesus lots, and is one of my closest friends. My younger sister dances and teaches ballet, performs in theatrical productions, and we tend to have great moments of laughter and light-hearted banter. My younger brother is highly intelligent, probably the biggest people-person of our family, and we both share a primary love language of physical touch (see the book, The Five Love Languages for details).
ISTJ
I'm 100% introverted. I may have stretched the truth on the personality test just to get a couple points in the Extrovert category. But don't worry! Most people don't know I'm an introvert when they meet me, because the Lord is always amazing enough to jump into every people-interaction I have.
Music
I adore musical theater. I don't really know many contemporary music bands, Christian or Secular, but I can sing lots of musical theater! And I'm also developing a love for opera.
Wish I was Bilingual
I attempted to learn to speak Spanish from the time I was 10 till I was 20. I still can't speak it. About 10 years ago, I went to Guatemala, thinking I was getting pretty good with Spanish but no one I spoke with could understand me. On my last day there, I ran into a drunk man in the park in Antigua, and I was surprised and excited that he could understand my Spanish! We had a whole 15 minute conversation! That was the last time I really attempted speaking the language. So this coming year should be interesting.
I expect to speak it fluently by the time the World Race is done.
Missions
God has called me to short season of missions trips since I was young. I went to Costa Rica and Mexico (twice) between the ages of 12 and 14. Then went to Guatemala to serve in an orphanage there 3 times between the ages of 17 and 19. I went again to Guatemala in 2010. For several years, I have known that a year-long trip was coming up but never imagined it would be this!
