Asia has come and past and once again we are moving forward, but to a new country. I anticipate the 24 hour travel day and what South Africa will look like, be like, and smell like. Once I got on South African soil I felt at home. We received vibrant welcomes and had a tour of the city as we traveled to our hostel for the night. We stayed in Johannesburg for one night and the next morning we took a 18 hour bus ride through the country side to Cape Town.

My team and I live in a town called Strandfontein and I am living in a house for the first time since I left for this race. It’s a blessing to wake up every morning on a bed. It’s a blessing to have perfect weather and a kitchen I get to cook and bake in!

Ministry looks a little different here. For one week we attended “holiday club.” Which is a few fortunate homes who are surviving solely on donations and the generosity of others. Every morning we would have breakfast for the kids and we organized play time, songs, dance, a Bible story, and a craft for the kids. Almost 35 kids would come each morning. These kids have nothing but they have showed me to love immensely and to be thankful for every day I have. We also have cleaned a few houses for the Seniors of the Church and helped with anything else we could.

The entire month of January we will be in a school BUT not teaching English! Our main jobs will be assisting the teachers with anything they need. A few of us will be helping with a kindergarten Sunday school class as well.

To my friends and family, thank you for supporting me because I wouldn’t be here with out you. I miss and love each and everyone. Have a Merry Christmas!
