If a seed is planted in good soil, if the seed receives nourishment, if the sun and rain fall upon it and it grows into a large healthy plant, is it good to eat? A farmer takes precaution to ensure his crop yields a fruitful abundance of plants. Yet, if he stores all of it will it not spoil in time? If he does not share his crop and spread it to others, how easy it will be for animals to ravage what little might be left when the door is open and the farmer simply stands there. How often do we stand silent? Imperceptibly, lukewarm Christian’s faith dwindles.
Did you know Jesus told parables “to eliminate people who [were] not sincere speakers?” (Chan, Crazy Love 66). How many of us still do not invest time in seeking the Lord? Actually, let me change that question. How many of us still only invest time to our Lord but not our lives? We go through the actions but forget the importance of the living Word, as well as our role in preaching it. While many make the excuse that actions speak louder than words, nothing is more impactful than Words spoken from the Bible. Unfortunately, we are afraid to talk about God in daily conversation. Regrettably, we care more about how people on earth perceive us versus our Creator and Father.
Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in Heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in Heaven. (Matthew 21:28-31)
While we like to think that people can see we are Christians through our kind deeds, they may not. We may be generous and compassionate with others, but that alone does not lead them to Christ. God tells us to worship, to pray, and to preach. So here is your challenge:
- Worship in a new way. Leave room for God to work in your heart.
- Pray informally. Tell God how angry you are, how sad you are, how thankful you are. Speak from your heart, not your mind.
- When you open your mouth, let words of Jesus’ love pour through.
If your love for God is only one percent of His love for you, your heart should be bursting to share.
Also, my next post will be about this amazing city and my ministry! Be excited!
