Recently I have been reading the wonderfully fantastic book Love Does by Bob Goff and it has become one of my all time favorites. I have highlighted so many great quotes that almost every other page has been highlighted pink! One quote in particular really hit home for me. In chapter 26 he states, “And He says to ordinary people like me and you that instead of closing our eyes and bowing our heads, sometimes God wants us to keep our eyes open for people in need, do something about it, and bow our whole lives to Him instead.” After reading this, I had to immediately sit back and reflect upon what exactly this statement was saying to me. I believe that God has called me, ordinary me, to bow my whole life to him. I am only 21 years old and still have a whole lifetime ahead of me that I do not want to waste on some office position job. To me, life means so much more than just getting a job, making money, and being comfortable with life. To be honest, the thought of being stuck in a situation like that absolutely terrifies me. I have been blessed with and adventures soul that enables me to go the distance that God has placed on my heart. Bob Goff also states in his book, “Every day God invites us on the same kind of adventure. It’s not a trip where He sends us a rigid itinerary, He simply invites us. God asks what it is He’s made us to love, what it is that captures our attention, what feeds that deep indescribable need of our souls to experience the richness of the world He made. And then leaning over us, He whispers, ‘Let’s go do that together.'” God has blessed me with many passions and gifts that I can use to their full potential while on my trip. I have a passion for working with children, specifically children with disabilities, and I have a gift that enables me to communicate with children who are non verbal or who do not speak English. I also have a passion for women’s and girls rights. Every woman/girl deserves to reach the full potential that God gave them. On my trip, I will encounter opportunities where I will be able to pursue my passions and use the gifts that God gave me. I am looking forward to going on my adventure with Jesus!
