My time in Nicaragua was unexpectedly amazing. I figured I would skim through my two months in Central America and the “real” race would start once we got to Asia. However all that was doing was putting our Lord in a box, and saying, “you aren’t going to show up.” Thank goodness he proved me wrong.
My team and I were assigned to Granada and we stayed and worked with Scott and Jennifer Esposito. During our time we worked with many different ministries including: prison ministry, sports ministry, bible studies, prayer walks, and community nights. The Esposito’s gave us the opportunity from the beginning to help where we wanted and create our own ministries within what they are already doing. Both Scott and Jenn are passionate about discipleship and building up leaders. I loved being a part of the work already started in Nica. It gave us the opportunity to encourage and empower the people in Nica leading the ministries.
I want to brag on Scott and Jenn for a second. These two are not perfect. They have faults like each and every once of us. However they are not walking around acting like they have everything together and they are the perfect powerhouse couple. They are so open and up front about challenges and struggles that they face on the reg. The Lord used this couple to show me his heart and love for others. They opened up and shared their hearts with us. I was blown away by how the Lord was present through everything they have been through. He not only carried them through every struggle but also strengthened them along the way to be the people they are today.
Jenn is one of the most passionate people I know. When I see her at ministry she is all there 100%. She pours all of herself into everything and anything she is doing. Jenn will go out of her way to make sure people are taken care of and more importantly loved on. During the month we were living in her house she was a mother figure to us. To some Jenn up, she is real. There is no time to put on a show, what you see is what you get. I love her to pieces.
Scott is a man of God. Everything he does is for the glory of God and nothing else. He treats his family with the most beautiful love and respect. While we are at a ministry site it was fun to just watch him work. He treats every person he comes into contact with the same. It blows my mind how well he loves. When he is talking to someone you can see our Fathers love pouring right out of him. Scott is a true testament to living out faith to its fullest.
We were beyond blessed this past month. The Lord showed up in so many different ways and he was able to use each of us in different ways. One of the biggest take aways from this past month was …. Sharing your story. Your testimony is one of the most powerful tools you have…
