So much has happened since my last blog post that I probably don’t even remember it all. (Ahh…the importance of writing things down!).
First of all, God did the best thing ever and brought me together with Anna Carter who is on my squad and lives only 15 minutes away from my parent’s house!! (And I was so grumpy about having to move home and wait to leave…I should have known God had something up his sleeve).
*Shout out to my parents for making living at home the best decision I ever made…hello, home cooked meals and freshly brewed coffee upon awakening…I have been missing out!*
So, now that I have met Anna, I realize how unprepared I actually would have been if I had to leave in January. I’m not really the most detail oriented person and it makes it very difficult for me to plan things that have a lot of moving parts because I just get overwhelmed. I am the kind of person that just takes one step at a time so to focus on something off in the distance is not my strong point. Well…thankfully, Anna is the exact opposite! Whew. Praise God. She has been helping me pick out my gear and filled me in on the many, many, many, many, many things I did not think about needing next year. A bath towel is a great example…I had no clue I would need this weird, tiny, condensed kind of bath towel (I’m not super excited about it either). Still…good to know that I will not be bringing a regular towel because it would probably get moldy and be way to big.
I am beyond words thankful that God has blessed me with Anna and we have been exploring different churches in the area together which has been really fun and so much more comfortable for me now that I’m not alone 🙂
We tried a couple different churches and decided on one that stood out to both of us. The people were so welcoming and really genuine. We decided to try out their womens’ bible study and WOW did God confirm that was where he wants us. I mean…let’s just say there wasn’t a dry eye in the room as we all got vulnerable and honest about what God has done for us and where we are at in life right now. I’ve never experienced that kind of opening up so quickly and it was such a powerful thing to be able to hear from older women as well as girls my own age sharing stories with the same conclusion…”God is SO faithful”. It’s amazing.
I have a lot more to say but I will save it for the next post. I am getting more and more excited each day for this trip and thank you so much if you are reading this for your support and allowing me to share my life with you 🙂
