Tonight I was at my usual Tuesday night bible study and after it was over one of my friends invited me to go with her to some kind of prayer meeting. I usually don’t turn down an invitation to do something new so of course I decided to go with her.

When I walked in to the room there were women of all different ages and ethnicities, sitting in a circle, praying and worshipping, each in their own individually unique way. I took a seat and honesly felt out of my comfort zone. I’m not the most expressive worshipper and I wasn’t really sure what to do since there didn’t seem to be one set “norm”. Eek.

I realized this is a situation I will probably be in frequently next year on the race. It’s so interesting to see all the different kinds of people that The Lord created and how they can all encounter him in such different ways. It takes so many different kinds to make up the beautiful masterpiece of humanity. I decided to just do what felt comfortable to me which in this case was to just sit there. And that was totally fine, because it was 100% authentic and that is what God asks of us.

Finally, after a few minutes a Chinese woman got up to share something. I was really excited to hear what she would say because China is one of the countries we will be going to. She shared with us that God is the God of Angel armies. She shared how when we ask God to send us angel armies he will provide us with the help we need. She went on to give some examples from her own life where she had prayed, “God please send your angel armies to help me” and he has delivered. I think that’s the coolest thing ever!

I love thinking about God’s angel armies. We really don’t know if they are invisable, behind the scenes angels or maybe they are those people we run in to when we need them the most…you know, the stranger whose kind words brightened your day? The person who stops to help when you have a flat tire? I don’t know what exactly it means by “angel armies” but I know I am going to be praying for God to send me some angels
